The Bariatric Center at Columbus Regional Hospital has enhanced our surgical weight-loss options and we now perform the LAP-BAND® procedure, which offers our patients a minimally invasive and adjustable solution.

The LAP-BAND® System is an adjustable gastric band that reduces the stomach capacity and restricts the amount of food that can be consumer at one time. The LAP-BAND procedure is performed laparascopically and is the only adjustable and reversible weigh-loss surgery available in the United States. Because the LAP-BAND® procedure is performed laparoscopically, it generally requires a shorter hospital stay and results in a faster recovery.

How It Works
The LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding System is a simple yet advanced gastric banding system that helps you gradually lose and control your weight by reducing the amount of food that your stomach can hold at one time. The name "LAP-BAND" comes from the minimally invasive surgical technique used (laparoscopy) and the silicone gastric band placed around the top of the upper part of your stomach. The LAP-BAND® System works by helping you control your food intake and supporting long term, sustainable weight loss.
