Success Stories

"I am very thankful I now have control of my life back."
Dave Munn from Columbus, Indiana

For thirty plus years I watched my weight climb and health decline. Doing most day to day things became a big challenge as daily activities would physically drain me. Health- wise I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, knee problems and low energy levels. I was on medications for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and weight loss and nothing seemed to work. I tried cutting back on eating and getting more exercise and still gained more weight.

I decided I needed more help and asked my family physician who suggested looking into the weight loss program offered by the Bariatric Center. After my first visit to the Bariatric Center and support group meetings and seeing how people’s lives had changed, I decided to accept the challenge.

The surgery has given me a new chance at life, both physically and emotionally. I now do not take any prescription medications and have not been to my family physician for more than three years. I take vitamins daily and have excessive energy and look forward to each day. I am very thankful I now have control of my life back.

Also, after being small and then being overweight and now small again I have seen how larger people are looked at and treated differently and are discriminated against in normal life and daily activities. Maybe people don't mean the things they say and do but we all have feelings.

I am proud of what I have accomplished and the way I look and others see me today and need to remember that the bariatric surgery is not just a fix but a tool that people can use toward a new, healthier and prolonged life.

The Baratric Center, Columbus Regional Hospital , support group and the physicians, Dr. Lee and Dr. Millis at Southern Indiana Surgery, I feel really care about this program and I would put them up against any program in the state or country.
